). - It has never been connected to any computer since then, and I never had a need for a USB cord, just an ethernet cord, making it an independent printer. The problem now is that, the toner light is blinking, a status indictating toner level is low. I printed with this before and the pages were fine, so I knew I could still get more pages out of it before replacing the toner. I researched online and people suggested to cover the sensor with black electrical tape, and I happened to have some and I did. Then the toner light stopped blinking. WHen I tried to print a test page, suddenly it said the printer was offline. I removed the toner, shook it left and right a few times to distribute the toner, removed the electrical tape, tried to press the buttons, made sure it was in properly and all that, the printer reacted..
and still it is Offline. It is not showing up on the network at all, it used to do this. I've tested this out with 2 laptops and even restarted the computer, and it still says offline. I did the troubleshoot printer device option, and it said, "Turn the printer on." - The printer IS on.
A website suggested I uninstall the driver and reinstall it again. I uninstall the driver and go through the process of adding a printer and it won't detect it in the network. I downloaded the latest driver (for vista). It will work in win7 they are similar os. The other option is tomorrow I will attempt to find the official printer cd and try to do it from there again. -_-
Also, I plan to contact brother tech-support, no number to call.. just email. But hopefully I will get this resolved soon since I have to print this shipping label to mail a package!
